On 11th August 1827 a young Nubian giraffe arrived at London’s Duchy of Lancaster wharf, was put up briefly in a warehouse before being hastily moved to Windsor . . . King George IV had been eagerly awaiting his new toy.
Alexandra Loske will trace the journey of the first living giraffe to set foot on British soil, and the effects she had on the arts fashion and science of the time.
