{"id":864,"date":"2015-11-01T17:05:37","date_gmt":"2015-11-01T17:05:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/friendsofsaintmichaels.co.uk\/?page_id=864"},"modified":"2015-12-28T07:47:20","modified_gmt":"2015-12-28T07:47:20","slug":"the-friends-annual-lecture","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/friendsofsaintmichaels.co.uk\/?page_id=864","title":{"rendered":"Annual Lecture &#8211; 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Saturday October 17th, 3pm &#8211; The Friends Annual Lecture<\/strong><br \/>\nThe landscape architect and former Chairman of the Garden History Society <strong>Dominic Cole<\/strong> called his lecture Theatre of plants and people \u2013 gardens as stories.<br \/>\nHe stressed the idea that telling a story was the inspiration behind his designs, whether these were the stories of the plants and their origins or the people responsible for creating the gardens and landscapes. In a long and distinguished career Cole has worked on projects with cultural and educational institutions that include the Horniman Museum, Southbank Roof Garden for the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Oxford University, and more recently with the National Trust on assessing the impact High Speed Rail (HS2) will have on the landscape and nearby NT properties.
